BRIAN GOWERS FUN RUN

Christine Gower in memory of her late husband Brian Gower for the 2^nd year organised and celebrated Brian’s life by organising a charity Fun Run or Walk to raise funds for Mojacar Area Cancer Support, last Saturday 12^th November 2011 at Monika’s Bar Palomares. The total amount raised was € 2817.50 cents

This years event was also a 10 K walk or run event, the conditions were ideal for the runners and walkers, sunny with a little cloud. Many of the people taking part had raised several hundreds of Euros in sponsorship. One lady had raised over €700 a remarkable feat.

The event was well attended and supporters were entertained with raffles and a quiz. Two of the competitions were to guess how many pieces of green pasta were in a jar of multi coloured pasta and a knock out game of Jenga. Again this year one of the most unusual events held was a head shave, three gentlemen volunteered to have their heads shaved. Inside were various stalls selling clothing and jewellery, outside there was a BBQ. A big thank you is owed to Duncan and his wife Diane who ran the disco for the day. Christine is already planning next years Spring event.

The clothing left over from the sale was donated to the MACS shop that opens it’s doors on Saturday 19^th November at 11am in Turre
