Pam
was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August, but was determined
to make at least (and I say 'at least' because she was planning
further visits) one more visit to her house in Vera.
Thomas and
I went over to see Pam, who had come all the way from the UK by
train, with Neil, her husband (Marilyn's cousin). Pam was told
that her lungs would not cope with a flight, so she and Neil
worked out another way to get to Vera.
Pam had 'guts' and was
gutsy to the end. Neil unstintining in his devotion, nursed Pam
for the last three months of her life. She died on 26 November
in Swindon where she and her family lived.
She will be
remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. MACS will
always be remembered by us for the practical help they gave us
in gaining access to the medical system and the comfort they
gave when Pam needed both medical and emotional reassurance to
continue with her final visit to Vera.
