The role of a MACS
Supporter
All our Supporters are volunteers who provide
help and advice to patients, for example;
- Accompany
patients on hospital visits
- Organise
medical translators for hospital and doctors
appointments
- Arrange
translations of hospital documents
- Provide
information regarding the sourcing of medical equipment,
prosthesis etc
- Home
visits to assist with shopping and/or to offer patients and
sometimes their loved ones, the opportunity to talk
- Above
all, provide contact for families at their time of need -
for them to know there are people ‘out there’ ready to
help wherever possible. This knowledge can help bring great
reassurance to patients and their carers.
- The
Group have access to professionally qualified carers -
visits can be arranged
MACS is a
registered charity and as such, is totally dependent upon the
commitment of our volunteers and in addition to the personal
help and support they offer, MACS
Supporters work extremely hard to increase awareness of the
Group and help raise much needed funds for the immediate and
future medical requirements of patients.
