Tracey

My name is Tracey. I have lived in Spain 4 years. In the UK I was involved in a number of charitable organisations:

· I assisted at Adult Literacy classes, helping young and old people overcome learning disabilities.
· I became a Victim Support volunteer, visiting victims of crime in their homes – assisting with relevant paperwork, listening/talking to them,   liaising with the police and generally helping them move forward after often harrowing ordeals.
· My Husband and I became Foster Carers. We offered respite care to young children. We worked with the Social Services and families in need of help/support.
· For many years I was a volunteer in the ‘Soup kitchens’, helping out during the Christmas and New Year period, providing food and shelter for homeless people.

Since moving to Spain I have been involved with various charities – Asprodalba, PAWS, Breast Cancer. The MACS Group is very close to my heart and I am privileged to have been involved with it since its inception. The treatment offered in hospitals may be superb, but if there is no-one to turn to/talk to afterwards, people can soon feel very much alone. The Group was set up to provide ongoing help and support to patients and survivors with cancer and, also to their carers. MACS is in its infancy, but is already going from strength to strength, with Supporters and Fundraisers all working very hard to help people and to raise awareness/funds.
